Snow

I live 6 miles up a mountain and snow has been a problem on and off through the past week or so. The snow cleared up mostly by Saturday night and we were able to leave and go into town again. This morning/ afternoon I woke up from my friend texting me asking how much snow I had. I responded "oh not much, cleared up on Saturday." She said, I have about 5 inches. That startled me and I looked out my window. We also had 5 inches and there was no way I would be leaving in my car. I had to call my mom and have her come home and pick me up and take me to the dentist. My car locks were frozen and my doors would not open. My backpack was in there.
This just added to my problems and continued to make for a horrible Monday.

Oral Surgery

One week ago, I started getting this pain in the back of my mouth. It was really irritating and only really affected me when I ate, coughed or sneezed. On Thursday, it started hurting really bad and I couldn't eat at all. So I missed work on Friday and went to see the dentist. Turns out that my wisdom tooth was coming through and it was infected. Food had been getting stuck down in the side of my tooth and causing it to be infected. They decided my best option would be to have it surgically removed right then. I had the nitrous stuff on my nose to help me relax and they then cut my tooth out. It was a pretty simple procedure but they sent me home with 2 pain pills and a pill to help with upset stomach because the side effects of pain pills are horrible.
After basically sleeping through 2 days of my life, last night it started to hurt really bad. I thought maybe I forgot to take my pills, so I took my pills and went to sleep. This morning I woke up in tears and immediately called my dentist. I am in excruciating pain. I went to the dentist today and was told that not only do I have a DRY SOCKET, I also have tissue trauma from where I bit my incision when it was numb. So now I have a week more of pain pills and a note to miss class and work until Wednesday.
I would much rather be at work and class than have a throbbing, sore, painful wound in my mouth.
HAPPY MONDAY!

A day off

So, yesterday was my first day off in 9 days. I was so excited to do nothing all day and to be home. It was my first night in 7 nights to sleep in my own bed, and shower in my own shower. This commuting thing is really getting to me, but I am happy to say that I only have to do it 2 days a week next term.

Yesterday I woke up and did nothing. Literally. I stayed in bed for hours, and around 2 in the afternoon I got up and walked into the living room and sat on the couch the remainder of the day. It was the most amazing day I have had in about 6 months. I watched a Criminal Minds marathon on TV and ate junk food.

This morning I woke up to head to work and saw that my mom was awake, she told me that she was not feeling very well and her hands and feet were all swollen up. If I would have left her, she would have been by herself all day long. So I covered my shift at work and stayed with my mom all day. It ended up being like another day off, so it was kind of nice. Stinky that my mom needed me to stay with her for that reason, but nice to spend the day with her.

Anyways, I have requested to start having the same day off each week so that I do not find myself in the 9 day streak again. I do not think that I can handle that. I live in Molalla, go to school and work here in Monmouth and also work in Clackamas. It is 57.4 miles to Monmouth from my house and about 58 miles from Monmouth to Clackamas and drive that almost daily. Next term will be very different because I am not going to be working at the Wolf Grill anymore.

Brakes

So the brakes in my car starting acting up about a month or so ago. I knew that it was not good and so I put off going to get them looked at. I decided today when it started this horrid screeching that it was time to take care of it.

I pulled into Les Schwab and told the dude what was going on. I explained that I had been putting it off because I did not want to pay for it, or face reality that my car had a problem.. again. He said he would drive it and then take a look at it and let me know whats wrong. As I am sitting in Les Schwab, eating popcorn of course, the guy comes back and says, "It looks like it is your brakes."

Now I know that I am a woman, and I know that I know nothing about brakes, but I knew that the problem I was having was brakes. I was there to get a bit more insight than that. It kind of made me chuckle because I think he didn't want me to know that the problem was going to cost me 350 dollars.

Thank you Les Schwab for breaking it to me gently. Haha.

Work-a-holic

When it comes to work, and taking shifts I cannot say no. I will work whenever I can no matter how tired I am. I am not sure why I do this, I just feel the need to work as much as possible.

Tonight I agreed to work for my friend from 7p to midnight at the "Late Night Pirate Dining" thing in the Summit. I have to cook scrambled eggs, sausages and pancakes for about 100 or more people. I am not exactly dreading it per say, but it is not the most amusing thing that I could be doing.

So come join me tonight for the "Late Night Pirate Dining" in the WUC Summit. I will cook you some good food for only $2.50.

Psalm 37:4

Psalm 37:4*

This is a very popular verse that a lot of Christians know by heart just because of going to church. It states, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” I have known this verse for a really long time, and today it hit me what it really means. What I thought it meant and what it actually means are two very different things.

What I thought it meant: I thought it meant that if you know God and are a Christian He will give you the things that you want. I have always told people that as well, for that I am sorry. I thought that if you prayed for it, you would get it because God wanted you to have it.

What it actually means (to me now): It means to me now that if you “Delight yourself in the Lord” your heart will change. You will want different things. You will want to live your life as the Lord wants, you will want the Lord to take control of your life. Delighting yourself in the Lord means that you are trying to walk like Christ. It means that your heart will want what the Lord wants because your Delighting yourself in HIM. He will show you the right and the wrong, and when you know what is wrong you will want the right. The “desires” of your heart will become the same “desires” of the Lord heart. You will want to be one with God, and walk on the path of righteousness and not wickedness. It is just like Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” When you trust in Him and your desires become the same as His, your path becomes straight.

Amen.

Valentine's Day

For Valentines I decided to surprise my best friend by flying in her boyfriend from Texas. We made up an elaborate plan in order to make sure that she was surprised. I had her cover my shift this morning at work, because we work at the same place. That way I would know for sure that she would be there when I got there. We stopped and got her flowers, and candy then drove here. My boss told her that she had a delivery out front and so she walked out and there he was! It was so cute, and surprising. It made my entire day.

They were so cute and happy. She had no idea he was coming and almost cried. She just hugged him and kept saying, "wow" and "hi". That was enough mushy stuff for Valentines Day so for the rest of the day I am just going to eat some candy and go to class. I am all mushed out, haha!

Craigslist

I really love craigslist, and I love getting rid of things I do not want via craigslist. But I hate it when people say they are coming to look at something, or coming to buy something but then they do not show up.

Ever since the movie, "The Craigslist Killer," I have been very cautious about giving out my information. Well today, this guy said he was coming right now, and so I gave him my address. Only for him to say, too far not coming. It was weird and now I am all creeped out.

Progresso Soup

So last night I was hungry and digging through my cupboards trying to find something to eat. I found a can of Progresso soup that I have been avoiding for a long time because I thought it would be horrible. I decided I would give it a try since I did not feel like cooking anything.

IT WAS DELICIOUS!

Progresso Chicken Noodle soup might be my new favorite thing in the entire world. It has chunks of carrots, celery and spiral noodles. It has delicious chicken broth that is seasoned just perfectly.

I am very excited for the next time that I can try a new Progresso soup. The commercials are not lying when they say that its just like grandma made it. :)

On Demand!

So I have spent the last couple days pug sitting for my band teacher from high school. I have been up north in Mount Vernon, Washington. I have been alone watching 6 beautiful pugs.

One of my most favorite things about coming up here is the fact that she has Comcast: On Demand. Not only have I caught up on all the shows I have missed over the last couple weeks, I have became hooked on about 10 new shows. My favorite part of Comcast: On Demand is the "Free Movies" section. There are around 200 different movies that are free. Some of them are not very good, and are not well heard of, but a few of them are. I got to watch Ice Age 2: The Meltdown, K9, and The Mask. Those are some good movies!

The On Demand also has music videos that are up-to-date videos, and are also free.
I have not been bored for a second because she has this. Thank God for On Demand!

On the train

I am currently on the train to Mount Vernon, Washington. I make this trip often but this time has been a bit different.

First, we stopped on a bridge. Now if you know me at all, you would know that I am terrified.. TERRIFIED of bridges. We had to sit and wait for the draw bridge to go back down. It took at least 15 minutes.

Second, I am alone. I generally take a friend or family member with me. But this time I am all by my lonesome.

I love riding the train because there is a plug in next to my seat, and wifi so I can access the important things such as: facebook.

I am riding the greyhound bus back down on Sunday. Not so much looking forward to that. Ugh.
